Design for print and I.D. essence

You can’t get a better grounding in print than working with Ian and Adam at Design Soultion with 8VO upstairs, then Simon Browning at Peter Leaonard and on to Cartlidge Levene. These were transitional times, cut and paste giving way to digital artwork within a decade. I was never interested in designer-fame nor in the design inner circle.

Teaching for seven years (alongside my first period of solo design practice), came just before the internet broke and was a period of experimentation at a time when design went a little crazy, working it’s way through the worst excesses of tail-end post-modernism and grunge which manifested itself in the visual scramble that was Carson, Attik and Designers’ Republic. I maintained working links with intelligent designers such as: Dom Raban and Simon Browning at North and collaborated with photographers, artists, dancers and crafts people on projects away from the melee.
